Does Amazon refund to buyer without receiving product first if buyer is returning the product?

  yes, once the buyer initiates the return then amount is then refunded to the buyer before receving the product.

  Yes, whenever the buyer initiates the refund, Amazon will give the buyer a refund. However, if you discover that the buyer has damaged your product, you can file A-to-Z guaranttee claims. Then Amazon will look into whether the customer damaged the product, at which point he will deduct payment from the customer and add it to your balance.
