In terms of Amazon’s Backend Keywords, are bytes or characters counted?

Should not exceed 250 bytes, which is equivalent to 250 characters, as certain keywords are hidden from public view.

Amazon right now doesn’t exactly specify this, but since 1 byte = 1 character as mentioned by Sam here as well, however, I tried entering as many as 266 and Amazon didn’t show an error or anything.

It will give you error if you exceed the backend keywords by 250 bytes which is also equal to 250 characters.

In terms of Amazon’s Backend Keywords, it is counted as bytes, 250 is a limit for backend search terms.

The word count should not be more than 250 bytes, or 250 characters. Ideally, you should use all of this space, which is roughly equivalent to 40 words. Anything longer than the specified 250 character limit will not be indexed.

Amazon counts the backend keywords in bytes not characters.
-
The maximum is 250 bytes for backend keywords.

Amazon counted it as bytes and almost 250 bytes are allowed in the backend of keywords.
-
Amazon consider characters to check the limit and the limit should not exceed more than 250 characters including the spaces as well.
-
You are limited to 250 bytes for backend keywords. If you go over the limit, Amazon won’t let you save it. So make sure you are going after the most valuable keywords.
